Cozy Slow Cooker Recipes for Halloween Night 🎃

Hey there,

Halloween has been different in every neighborhood we've lived in. In our current house, we get a couple hundred trick-or-treaters, so we buy those giant bags of candy at Costco and still usually run out. It's expensive, but worth it for the big smiles and great costumes.

Since we spend most of the night at the front door, dinner has to take care of itself. That's a great job for the slow cooker.

My pick is Slow Cooker Chicken Enchiladas (video below). You layer the tortillas with chicken, cheese and sauce instead of rolling them, so they go together fast.

What's Halloween like in your neighborhood? Hit reply, I'd love to know.

All my best,

Happy Sunday, Friends. Steak night at our house is the dinner we both grew up thinking was the classic steakhouse dinner. Bacon wrapped filet mignon, an overstuffed twice baked potato, a classic wedge salad and, of course, a glass of Oregon Pinot Noir, because it's our favorite. Every part of it is easy to make at home. The filet recipe makes two steaks, so it's just right for a dinner for two. The bacon goes into the oven for a few minutes before you wrap the steaks, so it gets crisp while...

Hey there, Apple season is here, and USA Today featured one of my favorite recipes for them: Apple Crostini with Fig Jam and Pecorino. You can see it and more in their article: "10 Unexpected Apple Recipes to Celebrate Peak Harvest Season." It's one of those simple appetizers that surprises people - sweet figs, salty cheese, and crisp apple all balanced on toasted bread. But apples aren't just for dessert (though we'll get to that easiest-ever apple crisp). They add crunch and a little...

Happy Sunday, Friends. This week: A New Orleans dinner two ways, one for a weeknight and one for company. At the famous, though very affordable, Liuzza's by the Track in New Orleans, we ordered more than we could eat: Gumbo, étouffée, shrimp remoulade (I don't want to admit the whole list!). The dish I thought I'd be least impressed with was the red beans and rice, and it's the one that impressed me the most. I came home and made it my own (made in 45 minutes flat with canned beans and...
