🍎 The apple recipe USA Today featured (plus 3 more favorites)

Hey there,

Apple season is here, and USA Today featured one of my favorite recipes for them: Apple Crostini with Fig Jam and Pecorino. You can see it and more in their article: "10 Unexpected Apple Recipes to Celebrate Peak Harvest Season." It's one of those simple appetizers that surprises people - sweet figs, salty cheese, and crisp apple all balanced on toasted bread.

But apples aren't just for dessert (though we'll get to that easiest-ever apple crisp). They add crunch and a little sweetness to salads, and when you have really good apples, sometimes the simplest preparations are the most satisfying.

Pro tip: For salads, choose apples that hold their shape and won't brown quickly. Honeycrisp, Gala, and Fuji all work beautifully and stay crisp even when dressed.

Happy Sunday, Friends. This week: A New Orleans dinner two ways, one for a weeknight and one for company. At the famous, though very affordable, Liuzza's by the Track in New Orleans, we ordered more than we could eat: Gumbo, Γ©touffΓ©e, shrimp remoulade (I don't want to admit the whole list!). The dish I thought I'd be least impressed with was the red beans and rice, and it's the one that impressed me the most. I came home and made it my own (made in 45 minutes flat with canned beans and...

Hey there, Enchiladas might be the most useful dinner I make. They're a Sunday dinner that turns into a week of lunches, a make-ahead when people are coming over, and about the easiest thing to carry to someone who needs a meal. The no-break secret: fry each corn tortilla in hot oil for 10 to 15 seconds per side before you roll it. It makes them pliable, adds a toasty corn flavor, and keeps them from getting soggy in the sauce. 🌟 Recipe of the Week: Cheese Enchiladas Melty cheese wrapped in...

Happy Sunday, Friends. This week: Five dinners that are quick to make and high in protein. "One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well." - Virginia Woolf I think about protein at dinner more than I used to, maybe you do too? Not as a diet. I just want a dinner that keeps me full. These five all have 25g or more per serving, and none takes more than 45 minutes. These recipes are fast because they use everyday ingredients and efficient techniques: quick sears, cuts...
